Greg Kelley

Greg Kelley’s artistic career has spanned 40 years, his work is in the collections of individuals, galleries and museums. He has won the prestigious Virginia Museum Fellowship for Artistic excellence multiple times. Collections he is in: Virginia Museum of Fine Arts, Mary Wright gallery in Houston. St. Cyprian’s Episcopal church in Lufkin Texas, Museum of East Texas in Lufkin Tx. Deborah Mcleod, Charlottesville Va. Catherine Henry/Choisser. RVA. Paul Dipasquali RVA. Peter Saul among many others. Academic degrees include a BFA from Virginia Commonwealth University and MFA from University of Texas in Austin. Greg Kelley’s lineage is one from Artists. His great grandfather SOLON BORGLUM was known as the “sculptor of the prairie”. Solon’s brother GUTZON BORGLUM carved Mount Rushmore. Greg’s work spans a wide range of media expression: monumental sculpture, small sculpture, installations, body sculpture/jewelry, paintings, drawings, photography, performance, and poetry/song. He has developed a variety of vocations: experiential educator/wilderness instructor, art professor, Educational program direction, specialty fabrication in the fields of metal working, woodworking, plastics and prototype design. His inspiration derives from the unexpected beauty of nature, the enigmas of human relationship, sacred geometry and divine connection. He is father to 3 talented artists.
